DISCOVERY CALL
Upon receiving your inquiry either through our website contact form or by email, we will contact you within 2 business days to schedule a discovery call. The purpose of this introductory call is to obtain a clearer picture of your project needs, budget, style and timeline. It is also an opportunity for us to walk you through the types of services we provide, our process, and rates. Once both parties agree that the project is a good fit, the next step is to schedule an in-home consultation.
CONSULTATION
The consultation is a 60-90 minute meeting that allows us to determine the project’s scope of work as well as understand your vision for the space, your values and lifestyle. We’ll discuss some initial ideas and ensure that we are all on the same page in terms of the work that needs to be done.
To ensure we make the most of your consultation, we will send you a questionnaire to gather important information prior to the meeting.
PROPOSAL
Following the consultation, we will prepare a proposal for your project based on all of the information collected. The proposal will include a detailed outline of the work to be completed by Olive & Neon as well as the associated fees, payment schedule, assumptions and exclusions. This proposal will be emailed to you for your review and approval.
AGREEMENT
We will prepare an agreement based on the agreed-upon proposal and will email it to you so that you have ample time to review. Once all parties have signed the agreement, we will collect the initial deposit to secure your project in the schedule.
SITE SURVEY
With the agreement signed, we can get right to work! This marks the beginning of an exciting journey together, where we transform your dreams into reality. At this stage, we schedule an onsite visit to take detailed measurements and photos of your space(s). This activity typically takes between 1 and 3 hours, depending on the size and complexity of the space(s) in question.
DRAFT OF EXISTING PLAN
Once we have taken the measurements, we begin the design process by drafting the existing floor plan in our 2D and 3D software.
PRELIMINARY BUDGET
In parallel to the site survey, we prepare and share a preliminary budget based on the project requirements and our experience with similar projects. If there is a discrepancy between your needs/wants and what is feasible for your budget, we prefer to have an open and honest conversation about these discrepancies upfront and re-align expectations so that we are all on the same page moving forward.
DESIGN PLAN
With a clear understanding of the project scope and measurements from the site survey, all elements are now in place for us to begin the design concept. Using our 2D and 3D tools, we prepare a floor plan and elevations to scale, taking into consideration form, function, and the project’s specific requirements.
A floor plan is essentially a view of your space from above, and presents the relationships between rooms, spaces, traffic patterns, and other physical features at one level of a structure. An elevation shows a head-on view of a wall, as if you were standing directly in front of it.
The combination of floor plan, elevations and 3D model provides you with a clear visualization of the future space, making it much simpler for you to sign off on the design and for us to move on to the next step in the design process. It also specifies crucial information to the contractor, cabinetmaker, and other trades, thereby reducing the number of unknowns and clarifications required during the construction process.
SOURCING
Once the design plan has been approved, we begin sourcing all of the elements required to complete your space. This might include, for example: materials, custom furniture and/or cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, lighting, custom window treatments, paint colors, furniture, art, décor, etc. It is at this point that the design really begins to come to life with beautifully selected finishes and unique pieces!
While working together, we build a partnership with you & establish a trust. When you allow us complete creative rights, we are able to curate a truly beautiful & functioning space that is distinctly you. We may show you a couple of options that you wouldn’t normally have chosen yourself, and that is because we see the bigger picture. We ask that you kindly allow us to do what we do best - source all items you’ve requested our assistance in finding and let us present to you so you can see the entire vision for your space.
BUDGET ADJUSTMENTS
We pride ourselves in keeping your budget top of mind when developing the design concepts and selecting finishes.
That said, the budget is an ever-evolving document. As we move forward in the project and obtain increasing clarity on all that is required, we adjust the estimated values to reflect actual costs.
PROCUREMENT AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Following your approval of our selections, we take care of placing orders, coordinating and scheduling all deliveries. We also have a network of trusted contractors, suppliers and trades that we can recommend for the project, but we are open to working with your contractor if that is your preference.
Once the project construction is under way, we are onsite on a regular basis to answer questions, oversee installations and minimize the impact of any unforeseen problems that come up from a design, quality, time and budget perspective.
FINAL REVEAL
With the project at its final stages, this is the most exciting step of all! We visit your home and style the space with small décor items, creating a truly spectacular final reveal. We then bring in a professional photographer to take photos of the space for use on our website and social media.
It is with this last step that our project’s journey comes to an end, in the hopes that we get to work together again in the near future!
